The spring semester begins on Jan. The university hopes to resume in-person instruction on or before March 8. Models suggest the number of cases in Virginia will continue to rise into February. They already are four times higher than at the beginning of the fall semester.

Winter Sessions offers courses during winter break so students can earn credit hours in order to catch up, stay on track or get ahead. Intersession classes meet Monday through Saturday for two weeks and J-Term classes meet Monday through Friday for three weeks. Both begin on December 27 and neither meets on.
