Should i kill the raven in dark souls

Do I need the raven later on in the game? Just curious, as I haven't found anything about it anywhere I've emptied it's health-bar using Chaos fireball. User Info: drake It's only purpose is to go back to the asylum so if you're done there, just try killing it. How do you get it to take you back? You know those shortcut elevators to the Church? Start riding up and almost immediately there will be a ledge you can step up on. Go right and you'll stand on a rock. Look to the left and you'll see a little pillar bridge you can roll to.

There are 4 chests right below so it's worth it to fall from the pillar. Once on the pillar, go up and to the left, to stairs. You'll see a corpse with an item, be sure to get it it's a key for a place in the Asylum.

Go back up and continue from where you rolled to get the key. You'll get to the bird's nest. Stand in it and press X, then wait about 10 seconds while you are imitating an egg. Then you're off to the Asylum
