Sources familiar with the situation told The Detroit News at the time of the deal's announcement last year that Manley's role likely would be focused on North America — home to what are expected to be the most profitable brands for the combined company. The facility is the city's first new assembly plant in nearly three decades. Although Tavares has committed to providing each of the company's brands with time to prove themselves, Chrysler, once a major name in the automotive industry, has had only a limited product line in recent years, including the Pacifica minivan and the Chrysler sedan, and has not had the exposure of sister brands Ram, Jeep or Dodge.
