How is this possible? Re: Joomla article hits and Google Analytics are totally dif Post by wwtn » Thu Jul 03, pm A lot depends on the actual tracking statistics that you're examining. For instance, you may simply be comparing "apples to oranges".
There is a difference between website "hits" versus "page views" Hits are generally represented as the total number of times the server is requested for everything needed to produce a webpage within a browser. For example When you visit any webpage, the server is asked to present the webpage code, graphics, photos, various scripts Javascripts, CSS files, etc and so one.
So one visit to one webpage can generate many "hits" related to the pulling in of all that comprise the visited webpage. But even that statistic can be further refined to be "unique" page views or visits. For instance Visits may be tracked as the single initial first arrival at a webpage or, for every instance that the same person surfs to that webpage while navigating around back and forth through that website in one online session.
So I suggest that you need to first gain a better understanding of what you're actually examining within Google Analytics versus Joomla's basic tracking of traffic to your website. In general, the tracking stats offered within the core Joomla system are too simplistic and of little value to rely on when gauging the success or failure of a website. How does article hits work Post by jcbs » Sat Jan 23, am Hi all, I understand that joomla provides article hits to allow admins to gauge the popularity of their content, etc.
I was wondering how it exactly works though, like for e. And what about those articles with the "Read More" link? Is the hit registered only when the link it clicked or whenever it's being load? Also, I have noticed that my hits can get rather erratic. When I created a new article, it immediately register like, lets say 9 hits right after I hit the apply button I did not preview the site or whatsoever and I am darn sure that my test site is pretty much inaccessible to visitors.
Post by segobia » Thu Apr 14, pm Dears , I do not have access counter plugin installed. There are some native count on the platform? Re: How to know the number of hits in my site? Post by AMurray » Thu Apr 14, pm There's nothing comprehensive for visitor statistics included in Joomla although I think articles have some basic 'count' but you have to turn on that option in the article option, and it's a front end statistic, showing the number of times the article has been 'read'.
